The Greenleaf Art Center is home to a creative collective working in the
visual arts and related fields. At GAC we encourage artistic growth through
workshops, classes, art exhibits and monthly events. The GAC teaching staff
are local professional artists and teachers.

Figure Drawing (Karen Perl, instructor)
Mixed skill level class, for beginners & those continuing their studies.
Class Tuition: $200, GAC members $180 - 8 weeks

Draw or paint the figure. An exploration of the figure as subject matter.
Learn how to render the figure through observation of a live model. Emphasis
will be on color, shading, and gaining an understanding of the nature of
the human form. Some nude, some costumed classes.

Students will progress from black and white charcoal pencil drawing to painting
in full color. Bring a clear, uncomplicated, sharp black and white photo of
a head, 5" x 7", to begin.

This class is for students who want to stretch their talents. Oil, acrylic,
watercolor and pencil medias, students will learn basic to advanced techniques
of painting.
Goal Setting for the Creative Mind (Lisa Kemp, instructor)

Creative types can get overwhelmed by all their interests and activities, or
simply get off-track in the course of daily life. If you'd like to accomplish
goals and move toward your dreams, this class is for you! In this series of four
weekly classes, we'll use a proven process and group support to identify and
achieve our goals.

of drawing. Through classic lessons and innovative exercises we will use
various mediums and techniques to explore the basics of visual representation.

Family Knitting (Sarah B. Ellis, instructor)
Class Tuition: $120, GAC members $108. - 6 weeks

Beginning and Intermediate level class for all ages. Beginning knitters will
learn to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and bind off. Intermediate
knitters will work at their own pace on patterns of their choice with the
guidance of the instructor. Knit whatever your heart desires: hat, scarf,
socks, sweater, shawl..... or if you don't know what to knit Sarah can help
you find a pattern to meet your skill level.
Drawing Caricatures (Darick Maasen, instructor)

Caracature drawing is a fun skill that can also
be profitable, whether you are looking for a
way to make a little extra cash, or just impress
your friends at parties. This class will explore both the fundamental skills
of drawing faces live and quickly (no erasers needed!) as well as the subtle
techniques that make people laugh.

Creature Feature! Story & Art Time (Kathleen

with a fun artistic twist! A great opportunity for your child to try yoga,

A trip around the world to study the work of famous artists while exploring the
elements of art. Students will work with line, color, shapes and texture in a
variety of materials. Students will be
introduced to working on an easel, painting and drawing.

This class will teach the fundamental aspects of cartooning, such as character
design,
the language of cartooning, and the simple shapes that go on to become the next "Sponge-Bob
Square-pants". We will build on our drawing skills and increase our understanding
of simple shapes that evolve into complex dimensional characters. That's all

Explore different techniques of painting and drawing. Students will build
a familiarity with materials and techniques. This class is an introduction
to line, value, color and composition focusing on fundamentals with an emphasis
on developing observational skills.
Students are responsible for their own supplies for this class, a materials
list will be furnished at registration.
To register for classes or workshops, print and fill out the class registration
form and return it to the Center. You can also call the Greenleaf
Art Center Office (773) 465-4652. Registration is accepted on a first come,
first served basis Payment is due at registration. You must pre-register to
ensure space in a class or workshop. Checks should be made to The Greenleaf
Art Center. Refunds will be given less a processing fee of $10. You must withdraw
from a class prior to its start date.
The Greenleaf Art Center reserves the right to cancel a class or workshop
if a minimum of enrollment is not met. Missed classes may only be made up
within the same class session. List of supplies needed for each class will
be available at registration.
